The Cold EP – Part 2

One good thing I have discovered about recording in winter in Montana is that the snow outside makes everything nice and dense and muffles a lot of outside sound. Fortunately we have so much of it right now, you almost can’t hear anything outside but the sound of snow blowers and shoveling. That’s the fun in every take you do – they are all different!

This week has been a bit of a struggle due to the fact that I have some sort of virus that seems to have set up comfortably in the left side of my throat. It’s really knocked me out good for the past couple of days. The motivation is there but wow, you have to dig deep for it.

I found a site a while back that makes these cool busker drum and tambourine combos in suitcases. In the summer I thought it would be a fun project to build one, since I had all the things necessary. I’m really glad I did, because now it’s something that I can incorporate into the sound.

And then there is my mascot, Margo. As much as I’m trying to train her not to hop on the couch, it seems like she knows when I’m sick and she tries her best to humor me. I highly recommend dogs if you don’t have one or are on the fence. One day I’ll get her a puppy, that seems like the least I can do for her for being so cheerful.

The Cold EP

So as I wrap some things up tonight, I’m looking at how cold it currently is at -4 with a whole pile of snow out there… it’s fairly difficult to keep things warm out in the studio area. Just using a small electric heater doesn’t quite do the trick and I have decided it’s maybe not a good idea to pass out from the fumes of using the propane one indoors.

Hopefully even with frozen fingers everything turns out. Like baking cinnamon rolls, it’s a labor of love.

2019

It’s hard to believe that it’s already two months into 2019 already. No kidding, it seems like just the other day when I cobbled together the first batch of songs and did a DIY recording in the garage. Since it has been quite some time since those recordings, we are well past due for some new material. I’ve added a few new elements to the framework of the band, and am excited to share new material within the coming weeks and months.

Thank you for taking the time to visit, and stay tuned in for more new content!
