One good thing I have discovered about recording in winter in Montana is that the snow outside makes everything nice and dense and muffles a lot of outside sound. Fortunately we have so much of it right now, you almost can’t hear anything outside but the sound of snow blowers and shoveling. That’s the fun in every take you do – they are all different!
This week has been a bit of a struggle due to the fact that I have some sort of virus that seems to have set up comfortably in the left side of my throat. It’s really knocked me out good for the past couple of days. The motivation is there but wow, you have to dig deep for it.
I found a site a while back that makes these cool busker drum and tambourine combos in suitcases. In the summer I thought it would be a fun project to build one, since I had all the things necessary. I’m really glad I did, because now it’s something that I can incorporate into the sound.
And then there is my mascot, Margo. As much as I’m trying to train her not to hop on the couch, it seems like she knows when I’m sick and she tries her best to humor me. I highly recommend dogs if you don’t have one or are on the fence. One day I’ll get her a puppy, that seems like the least I can do for her for being so cheerful.
