Change

The world is locked down and we are stuck at home. Who knows how or when we will come out of this. It could be weeks, months or years. Probably no live music for a good while. It seems like a good time to start planning the studio build out and research speakers, mics, laptop – now that there is time, may as well evaluate everything. I hope you are safe, wherever you are reading this from.

Happy 2020

Hello all – I hope you had a fine Christmas and New Years celebration wherever you are. I am putting together new songs and writing lyrics. My last few months got quite busy with work and the holidays and I fell into a bit of a writers block. So as I try to get out of the funk, at the same time I am planning out the next steps for what and how I want to record next. I’m going to ditch some of the methods I’ve done before with the garage and open room style and go for a more modern studio type of vibe, but I will have to build it up. Recording those slide guitar parts in an airport hanger in Miles City all those years back sounded cool to me, but now I understand more why studio setups are beneficial and I’m going to give it my all to get the best quality music out these that will help me book venues and reach people.

Got the dog a new toy – this is my son’s cat Sam. Looks like they enjoy each other.

PNW to LBC

Took a good amount of time off from writing and playing and we hit up the coast for a wedding and road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. Damn, what an adventure it was. I am forever grateful for my wife for planning and booking the whole thing. Bellingham, WA to Long Beach, CA in about 10 ten days!

Happy Summer

Summer’s been great. Things are grand. We’ve been hanging out and enjoying the weather around these parts. I’ve spent some time giving guitar lessons recently. Really thankful to be able to share it with the youth and pay it forward. It would have been cool to have a teacher growing up and would have expedited my learning curve immensely. Figuring it out alone for two years before understanding simple things like palm mute, yeah that is odd.

The Cold EP is now available!

I’ve been slacking on posting here. It has been a battle trying to get everything all mastered and sent out to all the various platforms, but it’s done. You can go ahead and navigate to the music page and select your preferred vessel for listening – I would also recommend swinging on by the SoundCloud page, where you can download the entire 2011 The Ends EP for free.

Hope everyone out there is having a great summer so far. Myself, I went ahead and bought a new guitar!

New Music Out May 3rd

Happy May Day!

This Friday “Be There” will be released on Spotify, iTunes, Tidal and most all streaming platforms. I will be sure and add the links here and on social media. A huge shout out to everyone that mentioned and shared the song snippet posted earlier in April.

With that said, the full seven song EP will also be out at the end of this month. I’ve got the whole thing mixed up and mostly mastered to where it is almost ready to go. The management has signed off and I can’t wait to get it out there!

The Cold EP – Part 4

I haven’t written anything on here in a while, but it’s certainly not for a lack of things to blog about. Been trying to do what I can in these limited late night recording sessions. And it’s snowing again today, and with that my recording space gets cold fast. So it’s easy to get distracted. But how could you not with a dog like this?

The music is on the way. Didn’t expect this to take as long as it has, but you have to take what you can get sometimes.

The Cold EP – Part 3

Winter’s Greetings!

Some updates on recording progress: I’ve narrowed down what I am planning to release in the next few months down to 6 songs. The instrument work is all complete for the most part; the next step is tracking out vocals, mixing and mastering. It’s warmed up so things are getting bearable and the progress continues. I did a live recording of one song as a quick practice run and now working on tracking it out in full and planning have that out hopefully by the end of the month, with the full EP to follow shortly after.

A couple people asked and yes, I am planning on sticking with Diamondbacks as the name. The main reasons are 1. Hootie and the Blowfish was already taken; 2. It is easier to say that than spelling my name out; 3. I don’t want to shut the door or completely rule out this being a group project again at some point. Down the road, that would be great. For the time being, I’ll roll with what I have and let it take me wherever it goes.
